Help someone rewrite their own story this Giving Tuesday.
For victims of intimate partner or gender-based violence, the impact of their experiences can’t be softened. Some stories don’t explode—they fade. A person who used to laugh stays quiet. Someone who once felt confident now apologizes for everything. Behind closed doors, a life quietly unravels.
The reality is that right now on the North Shore:
- Someone is packing a bag right now, shaking, hoping the door doesn’t open.
- Someone is deleting messages because they’re being monitored.
- Someone is rehearsing the words “I need help” over and over in their head.
And when they finally summon the courage to speak those words aloud – that moment is fragile, terrifying, and everything feels like it’s hanging in the balance.
This is the moment where the Hollyburn Specialized Victim Services teams steps in to provide victim centered services!
Hollyburn’s experienced and compassionate Victim Services team provides wraparound support for anyone impacted by family violence, intimate partner violence, sexualized violence, and criminal harassment.
Our trauma-informed programs-including the Accredited Justice Facility Dog Program, the Intimate Partner Violence Unit, and the Gender- Based Violence Counselling Program, provides victims with safety, support, and guidance through every stage of their rebuilding journey.
Today is Giving Tuesday, falling during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence — a time to honor the strength survivors show every day and to remember how urgently support is needed. It’s a powerful day to help someone rewrite their story.
Your gift will ensure victims are never defined by the trauma they’ve experienced.
Every donation made online today will be matched dollar-for-dollar (up to $5,000) by the estate of GH Lynum as selected by Katie McAlpine.
You can be the reason someone breaks the cycle. The reason a victim becomes a survivor. The reason someone decides to rewrite their own story.
