Rewired for the Trades is a paid, 12-week pre-apprenticeship program for people of all ages who are interested in starting a career in the skilled trades. Whether you’re exploring a new direction, re-entering the workforce, or building on existing experience, Rewired provides hands-on learning, paid work experience, and personalized support to help you take your next step.


Program Overview

Rewired for the Trades combines classroom learning with real-world, paid work experience to help participants explore trade careers and build the skills employers are looking for. The program includes:

  • 4 weeks of classroom-based training, including:
    • Career exploration and trade pathway planning
    • Site visits and career tours
    • Safety and industry certifications
    • Vocational assessments to identify strengths and interests
  • 8 weeks of paid work experience in a trade aligned with your goals
  • Ongoing career coaching and employment readiness support

Who Can Apply

Rewired for the Trades is:

  • Open to all people 15 years or older
  • Ideal for individuals interested in a career in a skilled trade
  • Designed for people who want practical experience, guidance, and a supported entry into the trades

NOTE: Individuals who have an interest in the program, or learning more about careers in the skilled trades, but who are not able to participate in the classroom sessions can arrange 1:1 sessions with program staff. These sessions provide access to some of the program supports for individuals who are ready for work experience placements.
